Dr. Wang is a Cardiothoracic Anaesthetist & Medical Perfusionist, and Clinical Senior Lecturer.

From 1996-2002 Medical School & Honours research year (in 2000), the University of New South Wales. Intern and Residency (2003-2004), Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney. Registrar and Provisional Fellow in anaesthesia, Royal North Shore Hospital from 2005-2009. Postgraduate cardiac anaesthesia fellow, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (in 2010). Obtained Postgraduate diploma in perioperative echocardiography from the University of Melbourne in 2010, Masters in Clinical Trials Research in 2016 and in Biostatistics in 2019 from the University of Sydney.


Current positions: Visiting Medical Officer, Division of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia & Medical Perfusion, Department of Anaesthetics, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Dr. David D’Silva

  Dr. D’Silva is a specialist cardiac anaesthetist and medical perfusionist practising across five major cardiac surgical centres in Sydney. He serves as Head of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia at both Macquarie University Hospital and Sydney Adventist Hospital.


David is President of the Australasian Society of Medical Perfusion and a national leader in perfusion education, currently serving as Director of the University of Melbourne’s medical perfusion course. He established Australia’s first nationally accredited postgraduate diploma in cardiovascular perfusion.


David is passionate about building high-performing systems in healthcare, having completed graduate education at Oxford Business School and Harvard Business School focused on optimising healthcare delivery.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Dr. Gordon Fowler

  Dr. Fowler is a Senior Specialist Cardiothoracic and Transplant Anaesthetist and Medical Perfusionist. My university education includes Chemical Engineering, Commerce, Medicine with Honours, and Masters of Trauma in Military and Austere Medicine. I have completed a cardiac and transplant fellowships at St Vincents Hospital and RPAH, where I work as a cardiac anaesthetist since. With an extensive exposure to all forms of complex structural, open heart and minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgery, I work solely in cardiothoracic anaesthesia across eight cardiac centres in Sydney, performing anaesthesia and perfusion with over 400 major structural and cardiothoracic cases a year.

  Dr. Lei is a consultant anaesthetist with subspecialty training in cardiac anaesthesia, transoesophageal echocardiography and medical perfusion. She completed her medical degree (MBBS) at University of NSW in 2007, worked at Concord Hospital for 3 years before embarking on anaesthesia training at Westmead Hospital. In 2016 she completed her fellowship at Toronto General Hospital in cardiac anaesthesia and echocardiography, and obtained testamur of National Board of Echocardiography (NBE PTExAdvanced). In 2019 she completed the training to become a medical perfusionist. Today, Dr Lei works at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Westmead Hospital, principally in anaesthesia for cardiac surgery, structural heart procedures and electrophysiology procedures. She is also accredited at Macquarie University Hospital, Westmead Private Hospital, Sydney Adventist Hospital and St George Private Hospital. Dr Lei is also on the executive board of the ANZCA CTVP SIG (Cardiac Thoracic Vascular and Perfusion Special Interest Group).

  Dr. Joanne Irons is a consultant cardiothoracic anaesthetist and medical perfusionist based in Sydney, Australia. She graduated from Edinburgh Medical School in 2002 with an MBChB and completed her anaesthetic training at the South East Scotland School of Anaesthesia. In 2011, Dr Irons undertook a fellowship at Westmead Hospital in Sydney, specialising in cardiothoracic anaesthesia, transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE), and medical perfusion. Following this, she spent nearly five years as a consultant in cardiothoracic anaesthesia at Papworth Hospital, the UK’s largest cardiothoracic surgery centre and leading heart and lung transplant unit, before returning to Sydney in 2017.


Currently, Dr Irons works primarily at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, focusing on anaesthesia for cardiothoracic surgery, as well as structural heart and cardiology procedures. She also holds accreditations at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, Macquarie University Hospital, and Strathfield Private Hospital. Dr Irons is actively involved in academic and professional organisations and is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney with over 30 publications. She chairs the executive committee of the Cardiac Thoracic Vascular and Perfusion Special Interest Group (CTVP SIG) for the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and serves on the executive committees for Structural Heart Disease Australia (SHDA), the Echocardiography Society of Australia and New Zealand (ESANZ), and the international committee for the Society of Cardiovascular Anaesthetists (SCA), USA. She is also co-convenor of the Sydney TOE course.

  Dr. Llewellyn graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1985 MB.,BS. I undertook specialty training in anaesthetics at Royal Newcastle and Royal North Shore Hospitals. I received my Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in January 1996 and commenced working as a staff specialist anaesthetist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital that year. I have worked primarily at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital since, subspecialising in the areas of cardio-thoracic and neuro-anaesthesia. 


I have also worked at Royal North Shore Hospital as a Visiting Medical Officer in cardiac anaesthesia (2000 - 2004), as general anaesthetist at Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai Hospital (2006 – 2013). And I have held appointments at Strathfield Private Hospital and the Mater Hospital, Crows Nest.

Currently I hold positions as a visiting cardio-thoracic anaesthetist at Sydny Adventist Hospital Wahroonga, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Camperdown and Macquarie University Hospital.

My areas of special interest include anaesthesia for major aortic surgery, minimally invasive and robotic heart and lung surgery, trans-oesophageal echocardiography, cardiopulmonary bypass perfusion and extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy.
